The Fair Election Fund, a national election integrity watchdog group, today praised the Eastern District Court of North Carolina’s ruling to overturn the State Board of Elections’ anti-democratic ruling and allow Cornel West on the November ballot. The Court’s ruling affirms the voting rights of over 17,000 North Carolinians who submitted their signatures to have West on the ballot in November.
The Court’s decision comes after three Democrats on the NCSBE voted multiple times in recent weeks against certifying Cornel West’s political party, Justice for All, as an option on the ballot in North Carolina. A group of North Carolina voters filed a lawsuit last week to overturn the NCSBE’s vote, and today were victorious in their appeal.
Doug Collins, Fair Election Fund Senior Advisor and Former US Congressman from Georgia, released the following statement:
“The decision by the Eastern District in North Carolina to put Cornel West on the ballot is a win for our democracy and a major blow to the national voter suppression effort being deployed by the Democratic Party. After being bullied by the Biden-Harris political machine, the Democrats on the NCSBE attempted to silence the voices and voting rights of North Carolina voters who worked to get Cornel West on the ballot – today’s ruling puts the power back in the people’s hands. The Fair Election Fund worked tirelessly to expose the NCSBE and national Democrats’ collusion to keep Cornel West off of the ballot, and this is just the beginning.
The Fair Election Fund will shine a light on the Democrats’ election interference schemes in other key swing states across the country like my home state of Georgia and stop their attempts to block competition and block your voting rights.”
Since May, The Fair Election Fund has spent $375,000 on paid media efforts targeting the three Democrats on the NCSBE for their efforts to keep Cornel West off the ballot.
The media efforts include standard and mobile billboards with language that reads: The NCSBE “blocked your voting rights by blocking Biden’s competition from the ballot.” The digital ads include the words of frustrated North Carolinians who urged the NCSBE to reverse their decision and allow third party candidates to appear on the ballot.
- Daniel Barron from Fayetteville, NC is opposing the NCSBE vote, saying “Parties in Raleigh made a decision that needs to be overturned immediately. Everybody needs their voice heard.”
- Cherish Nance from NC said “enough isn’t being done.” “The decision Raleigh made to silence our voice is wrong.”
- Trey Rogers from NC said “Our voices need to be heard all the way in Raleigh. They need to overturn the decision immediately. There is no justice if there’s no justice for all.”
- Derrick Trenier, US Army veteran from NC said he is concerned that “Bureaucrats in Raleigh are not looking out for us. The decision that they made needs to be reversed because there’s no way you guys should be trying to silence our voice.”
The Fair Election Fund also ran a digital ad calling out the NCSBE shady backroom deal to block the voting rights of North Carolinians and watching other attempted election interference schemes across the country.
The Fair Election Fund is a watchdog group that was formed in May and will spend over $5 million in 2024 to shine a light on fraud and abuse still occuring in our election system. The group is now calling on anyone with knowledge of illegal or unethical activity by the NCSBE, Clear Choice, and the DNC to come forward and share their story. Those who expose wrongdoing could be compensated from the Fair Election Fund’s whistleblower protection fund. Those who want to contact the Fair Election Fund regarding the NCSEB’s decision can either email info@thefairelectionfund.com or call 301-388-8733.
